Camp Luther Retreat! Nov 1-3, 2024

Hello 👋! Sorry to not have updated this website too much 🙂 but I did recently go the past 3 days to an advocacy retreat here in Mission where I live. I was grateful to go for the second time this year. It was a lot of fun with some friends I met from last year, others I know from the Mission Self- Advocacy group with Bryce, Tracy, Arlene and others. I saw Gregg there and Cam along with many lovely workshop presenters! There was a workshop lead on by a counsellor named Dorothy, one with a parent who has a disability with a child who has a disability logging in from Zoom who’s name is Michelle Goos I believe. A young girl from the Mission Environmental group, MESS society, advocates with websites like Bryce and so on forth! There was the Halloween dance and other fun game activities, ping pong and more. The food was great and everyone was kind, funny, and lovely. I got a lot of hugs and warm smiles along with wonderful conversations. My roommate Elizabeth was very kind and sociable. On the last day which was today; Sunday I saw the last workshop which was with Ultra-Marathon runner named Sachin Latti from BC he was super nice and very humble despite his achievements and the fact he can run 60 km in a day and wants to run across Canada next June 2025 and be the first person of color to do it. He was very memorable as he was last year which I think was his first time coming out to the event. His YouTube channel named Sach in Motion, I really respect the fact that he raises awareness around mental health, which is what this website is about, and like he says his idol Terry Fox helped raise money and awareness to help with Cancer, and Sachin or Sach as he’s commonly called, thinks that our modern day cancer is also Mental Health/ illness, suicide rates and so on forth. I really admire his motivation despite his struggles with what he calls very severe severe anxiety and depression, that running has helped completely change his life. I hope one day I can become more like him it be to take up running or make a positive change even if only in a few people. I hope my own advocacy in different ways for mental health and different important causes can help leave the world a little brighter and better just like he does. I’m glad I got to go to the 23rd Camp Luther anniversary and I hope to go again next year if I can or many more. I’m very fortunate that I got sponsored/ funded money to be able to attend and same with the Nanaimo conference this year on May/ June (May 30th- June 1st) along with the Kelowna conference last year in August 14-17, 2023 though I didn’t get to attend for very long and had to leave early due to a health emergency. I hope to attend many more advocacy events and work on becoming a better advocate as well 🙂 . Thanks for reading and I hope you have a wonderful day and wonderful November. 😀☺️😊🙂😇💝❄️
